Bikes & Bitches Event 1: The Elephant & Castle Re:Cycle Run

because jody and i had a habit of doing sunday rides across town, and it was sunday, and matt wanted to ride, and his new ride was ride-able, we did the epic, mythic trans-london ride (only about 3.6 miles) to Re:Cycle, a bicycle shop down in Elephant & Castle, a poorer neighborhood in the south west. but Re:Cycle is more than just a pun, its a shop that features 8 million used bicycles of every nature and sort, and completely separated bins of each and every part you can imagine: pedals, left cranks, right cranks, handle bars, brake calipers, brake levers, stems, seat posts, seats - all in their own bins, ready for the digging.

EXCELLENT!

anyways, this time we got there kind of late, they had their store room SUPER packed tight with so many bicycles, and the workers seemed to not like three of us pillaging their pillagings, so the pillaging was not as successfull as hoped. none the less, we each came out with various things; before, id found my aluminum bullhorns, and the gold 3ttt stem i now use for a fiver each, and this time i got a light shimano crank, 52t chain ring and 2 pedals with toe clips for 15 quid. not bad. i think matt got some bmx style levers, and jody got some grease on his fingers. yet, we all seemed to feel that our glory had been stolen because they closed about 20 minutes after we got there, so the only way to really bring any light to our dimmed situation was, really, to have beer.

and so it was;

it was bikes & beer.

now we just need our patches.

what a bunch of dodgy lookin' toerags. haha! a true motley crew. the pics actually manage to capture that incredibly cold day quite well. good work. shame the variety of brews didn't quite come out.
i could get used to more cruises and the odd lubricating pint. ...

level-adjusted photo resubmitted in place of dim-lit original. although its still a bit hard to tell. anyways, i had the stout (right), jody had the amber (mid), and matt had the urine.
