Trip down (false)memory lane

I don't know whats the most drool worthy, he has some of every thing, a 1967 Hetchins , but the 1903 Tribune with the shaft drive and front suspention is just beautiful. What's your favorite?

im not actually into the hetchins trade mark flair. i can appreciate the "nuts" factor on rediculous lugs but, mostly i like things simple and sleek. however i do like the mechanical drive on that 1903 thing. pretty hot. wonder why they havent been developing this chainless style for hundred years, instead of simply reintroducing a slightly modern (and enclosed) variant, 102 years later? would make for a sick fixed.

From what i understand the stress on the gears is to high that keeping things working right isnt possible in a compact size. Just too much stress in different directions. With a chain drive all the stress is in the same direction. So you just get a more efficent reliable system using a chain.
If they did a shaft drive it would have to use supper beefy (aka heavy) gears to keep things working.
